Welcome To Shannon Lake Elementary
School District #23
April 23, 2012
We delight in the changes Spring brings to the world around us. The sun returns and the greening begins!
Spring brings changes to our learning community as well. We are busy planning for September already, in our school and across our district.
One of our biggest changes is that Ms. Scarcelli will be moving over the summer to be the vice-principal at Anne McClymont Elementary. We will all miss her and we all know just how much she will bring and give to her new assignment in September. There will be opportunities to say thank you, goodbye and congratulations to Ms. Scarcelli over the next few months.
We will also see Mr. Tonn ( aka Grandpa Tonn!) head into a retirement of fly fishing at the end of June!! Again, there will be opportunities to wish him well during May and June.
We would like to welcome Mrs. Lorraine Simpson as our new Head Secretary. She joined our SLE family the end of February 2012.
.
We will welcome Mr. Jesse Bruce as our new vice principal as of July 1st. Mr. Bruce is currently the vice principal at North Glenmore Elementary. He lives on the Westside, and is a coach of one of our community soccer teams. Mr. Bruce is married to a teacher, and they have four wonderful children – Wake, Beckham, Oakley and Kalea …. all of whom are under 6 years of age! There will be opportunities to meet and welcome Mr. Bruce over the next few months.
There will be other changes at Shannon Lake Elementary as families move in and out of our community. As always our numbers are tight, so please inform the office if you NOT going to be with us in September.
As we organize for learning, we will consult our Parent Advisory Council and School Planning Council. All plans regarding class organization and teacher assignments are tentative at this time. If there is a concern regarding class placement affecting your child’s learning , please put your request in writing to Mrs. Privett by June 1st. Your request will be considered during the process of designing classes for the fall. This is done in June by teachers, so any requests received later than June 1st cannot be included in that process.
Thank you so much. Call at any time with questions or concerns. Please click on Shannon Lake Live for updates of all the spring activities happening in our wonderful learning community.
Mrs. Privett
