Rights and Responsibilities: According to the B.C. Human Rights Code, we promote a climate of understanding and mutual respect where all are equal in dignity and rights.  All members of our learning community at Shannon Lake Elementary have the right to:

1.      Be treated with kindness and caring.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to treat others the same way.

2.      Learn and work in a disruption free environment.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to listen, to ask questions, and to learn and work without disrupting.

3.      Know what is expected of them at all times in every area of the school.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to follow all expectations and enhance the image of the school.

4.      Be protected from physical harm.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY not to physically harm yourself or others.

5.      Be protected from verbal abuse.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to treat others with dignity, worth and respect.

6.      Have their positive behaviour recognized.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to praise and acknowledge others for appropriate behaviour.

7.      Have their personal property protected.
You have the RESPONSIBILITY to respect the personal property of others and to accept their right to privacy.
